Anymore ideas for decorating this room? Thanks so much you guys!!!!

Neither. Try doing warm taupe walls with Black accents (Black Roman Blinds, Black Iron Decorations, your black furniture) and then that zebra rug, with classy, not cheesy leopard print pillows on the sofa. It’s romantic, classy, yet fun with the animal prints. Creates a soothing atmosphere.

What kind of soap is safe to use on leather furniture, besides the stuff from Sofa Mart?

Posted on November 12th, 2009 by admin

I am about to run out of Sofa Mart leather cleaner and it’s very expensive. Are there any cheaper things to use that are also safe for leather furniture?

You need to use a good quality water based foam leather cleaner. With light coloured furniture dye transfer from clothing can be a problem although using a good quality leather protector will help inhibit this.

DO NOT use anything containing oils, waxes or silicones. (Most ‘conditioners’ contain waxes or oils) and furniture polish contains silicones

BABY WIPES are the worst thing you can use as they will destroy the finish on your leather. They are very strong alkiline cleaners to neutralise urine (acid) on babys skin so they are not the right thing to use on leather.

Saddle soap is too harsh to use on todays furniture and should not be used.

A lot of leather wipes contain chemicals which will also destroy the finish or leave residues on the leather which will damage it. They are not cheap in the long run as you would need a lot to clean a whole leather sofa. A bottle of foam cleaner should do your furniture 1-2 times.

Fairy liquid or washing detergents contain more salt these days to get dishes clean and this will break the finish down on your leather. This has been verified by the manufacturers (as with the baby wipes).

You should also follow cleaning with a good water based leather protector which will act like a ’scotchgard’ and inhibit dirt and stains from being absorbed and make cleaning easier the next time.

Dry leather needs rehydrating with water and oils and waxes should not be used as the natural oils do not dry out of leather. Wiping over with a damp cloth regularly will help to do this.

It is important to maintain a regular cleaning regime cleaning dirt off the surface regularly and inhibiting the absorption of body oils into the leather with a protector is the best way of doing this.

The alternative is a brand new product on the market called Lazy Leather. This is the latest technology in cleaning and combines an effective cleaner with a protector. It is quick and easy to use and should be used as a maintenance product once your suite has been cleaned or from new if you have just bought it.

How well does bassett furniture hold up?

Posted on November 3rd, 2009 by admin

I am considering buying a sofa from Bassett Furniture but I can’t find any reviews on the quality of their furniture. Does anyone have a Bassett sofa and could tell me how their furniture is holding up?

Bassett is a good name for quality furniture but like everything made today you need to inspect it dilegently. Make sure the back and sides don’t have much give when you push on them. Ask what wood the frame is made of, obviously a hard wood should hold up better than pine. But, realistically, the average life expectancy of a sofa is about five years unless of course it is rarely used. Older sofa’s were made stronger and hold uplonger if you have one that can be refinished, it is well worth the investment.

who sings come on a my house ,in the csl furniture sofa specialist?

Rosemary Clooney sang the song initially and made it famous. I don’t know what CSL furniture is so I wouldn’t know if someone else is singing the song.

what is the going rate on moving companies loading and moving your furniture?

Posted on October 30th, 2009 by admin

changing residence. Cannot lift heavy furniture (TV, sofa, etc. Will need moving company to load furniture into truck, drive to new place approximately 15 miles away and unload into new place.
What is the going rate for this in california these days. is it priced by size of load or time?

No matter how far you are moving they charge by the hour and your driveway space and number of stairs. If you are having them pack for you that will be a charge. We have done both professional movers to different states and local movers. A local move is easier and much cheaper as they will charge you by the hour but you need everything properly packed and ready to go. Locals will still charge you for access so you have to ask if they do. We just did a very small distance move of around 16 miles with a great local company that did not charge extra for stairs and long driveways for well under $1000 for a huge home of furniture but our previous interstate moves were always around $10,000. So do your homework and call around. Your move is a short distance. You should be able to work out a deal.

Color matching for indoor furniture and walls ?

Posted on October 26th, 2009 by admin

I started remodelling the interior of my house and I really need your advice ! I bought some new furniture and I don’t know how to paint the walls of the room in order to match that color with the color of the furniture. The sofa and the armchairs I bought are brown, with white and black stripes… and the rest of the furniture is also a dark brown natural wood color. The only think that is a light color of wood is the floor… So, I was wondering… What color can I use to paint the walls to make all the colors match ?

Oh, and one more question… what colors should the curtains be ?

I would paint "city loft" by Sherwin Williams. It’s a gray/beige, and it would work perfectly to highlight the darker furniture.

Now, you have a lot of neutral tones in your room. I would add some color with smokey blue drapes, throw pillows, area rug & artwork.
