I’m looking for somewhat contemporary living room furniture. I don’t want to spend a lot (about $1000 or so for a couch.) I’ve tried Z Gallerie, West Elm, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Crate and Barrel (I’ve also looked at Ashley furniture, Star Furniture, Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn and Gallery furniture, Macy’s and Overstock.com). What I’m really looking for is a moderate sized slate gray couch. I’m not looking for anything huge. I like clean lines, hence the request for more modern design.

If you can think of anything else, nationwide, online, or in the Houston area, I would appreciate it!

Well,I like contemporary furniture and I dont like antiques one.Is there any interior designer out there?I would be grateful if you could send any information or pictures about contemporary designs that suit with modern people.

If you happen to live in the United States, I’d suggest you visit Ethan Allen. They are a furniture store/showcase which employs and trains interior designers. There might be someone available to help you find a design/motif to fit your own personal style.

If you do NOT have one of these stores in your area, the library is always a great source of information when it comes to matter such as this one. I’d recommend you look for any or all of the magazines (which will be listed at the page I’ve included below) at your local library.

I’m looking to buy a new living room set. I only have $600 to spend on a couch and love seat or couch and a chair. Our style is contemporary/modern. Our favorite store (Directions in Furniture) went out of business. Is there any other good stores that don’t charge $1500 for a couch???

Polar white on the walls and black on the trim. My furniture is all black(my only furniture in my room is my bed and a drawer), so I thought it would go well with black trim. I already bought the paint then realized its probably a horrible idea. What do you think? What do you recommend? I want a sort of modern/artsy kind of look and feel to it, which is why I barely have furniture. Also I have wood floor, but I’m thinking of buying a rug. So any tips?

well are you a female or male? if you are a female: I would not use black trim BUT that’s just me. However It will probably look better than you think though. You could get a few paintings that have have bright colors along with alittle bit of black in the painting that would bring out the black on the trim. Definitely get a rug and make sure there is some black in your rug that will accent the black trim. you can always change the trim if you don’t like it. If you can, buy you a green potted floor plant for your room. Accent your room using the colors of orange, yellows, maybe red.

I have a new white leather 3 seater couch and need an arm chair to go with it, modern contemporary style, any photos? I’ve put floral red cushions with the couch.

Go with 1 or 2 square-ish contemporary black club chairs. This will complement the white and red nicely and add some balance.

My husband and I recently purchased a bedroom set and a gorgeous set of sheets. Unfortunately we have no idea how to decorate this room. The walls are currently a light creamy beige with white faux wood window blinds.

Can you please suggest some painting colors, techniques and other decor ideas that can transform our bedroom into a beautiful and modern/contemporary relaxing escape.

a rich red/orange wall accent with a nice earth tone brown will go nice on the walls to accent the furniture and beddings … try imaging the walls in two tone colors.

My friend just move into her new house, and in one of the rooms had similar specs as your’s, that’s what she did and it looked great, i’m sorry I don’t have pictures though…
