I am assuming when you say maple that this is a light wood color. For me, the neutrals work best, but you just need to take a photo of your furniture with you to the Lowes, Home Depot, or other Store where you will look at the paints, and start putting that photo of the wood next to the colors on the papers showing the choices. It is up to you as to what you feel comfortable with in repainting the room.

If you are still unsure, I would suggest you start with a pint of a selected color. Pull the furniture away from the wall, and just paint a test area, let it dry, and then put the furniture back. Does it look like you want it to look? If so, then go back and finish the room that color. But realize — anything strong will be a problem if in the next few years you will be having to sell the property or move.

I’m moving into my new place next week and I’ll be searching for a bedroom set. Is there anything I should know about whats good and what isn’t? I want quality, but I don’t want to spend a fortune. I’m a 20 year old college student. I like the beds that sit closer to the ground, but I’m not sure about the quality on those. Hopefully you guys/gals can help me out.

My advice for anyone wanting to buy new furniture but are on a budget: Go shopping at your local furniture store and take notes on the make & model of the furniture that you like. You can then go to the internet & find the exact same furniture(many times with free delivery) at a huge discount. I bought a used wicker bedroom set. It is white and I want to paint it. My bedroom colors are brown and olive green. I thought about painting it dark brown. Should I leave it white? Another choice was a nice green color. Decision, decisions. I need help. What are your suggestions? Will it be too much to paint it a sage. Decorators I am waiting for your reply.

I am painting my bedroom walls the colour Dix Blue by Farrow and Ball. My bedroom furniture is old, scuffed, and does not match the colour of the walls at all. I was thinking of painting it, but am not sure what colour to use. Many people have suggested brown, while I wondered if a shade similar to Dix Blue, but much darker, would go well. Any suggestions or recommendations?

You can either do white, a color in the same category as dix blue or my personal favorite, a variation of creamy orange. Orange and blue are contrasting colors and therefore are extremely eye-catching.

I’m planning on renovating my master bathroom, and I pretty much know what I want in terms of style. However, I happen to have cream color, cottage style bedroom furniture. Does the master bathroom have to match that color and style? I was planning on having a dark color for the vanity, neutral color tile, with bronze faucets, and beige color granite counter top.

you should get a distressed dark brown cabinet, and get a decorative edge on the counter, I prefer the Dupont edge. It is all a matter of preference on what look to put where but an off set but coordinating tone will work great separating the two rooms. I do this for a living and any thing looks great.
