Where is the best place to shop and buy contemporary/modern futniture?

Posted on September 29th, 2009 by admin

Does any one know any decent stores or have any ideas of the best place to purchase this type of furniture, I wanted to use a well known place such as rooms to go, badcock furniture, or kanes furniture due to the fact that I can get a credit card through them and charge my furniture items. I’m located in Orlando, Fla so any places around here would be great!

Storehouse has a store around Orlando (407-786-1222), a printed catalog, and a website:
http://www.storehouse.com
Room & Board has very nice modern furniture at reasonable prices, a fabulous printed catalog, online shopping, flat rate delivery but no Florida stores.
http://roomandboard.com/rnb/
Restoration Hardware has really nice stuff, several Florida stores (see the store finder on the website), online ordering, etc.

I note store locations in Winter Park, Tampa, Sarasota, West Palm, Aventura & Miami.

asking a question regards to warranty for the furniture?

Posted on September 29th, 2009 by admin

I bougt the 3 peice of furniture sofa, love story, pvc reclner. I moved after 6 month and after 2 month i got a problem with my sofa and call them They told me it is policy after moving warranty void.
But I am still getting new problem which is not related to 5 month ago.
Please advise what can I do?
thanks.

In the UK a free standing furniture guarantee would apply to the item rather than the address unless it could be proved that any fault, or damage, was a result of removals to a different address, (in which case you’d chase the removals company) Possibly the guarantee will be for a specific period, say three or five years, however if the item became unfit for purpose during the guarantee period then you might be entitled to make a claim. Can extremely heavy furniture hurt concrete slab flooring in 12×12 bedroom?

Posted on September 29th, 2009 by admin

We have extremely heavy bedroom furniture (hugh dressers, dresser drawers & king size wooden frame bed all situated on two sides of the room at the OUTSIDE WALLS of the house). Any possible problems? The rest of the house is about 2200 sq ft, 1 sty, with conc tile roof. Thank you.

Most foundations use a concrete mix listed as a 3000# mix. That means that a test cylinder made by the same the concrete can withstand a force of 3000 lbs per square inch before it fails. Heavy furniture won’t make a dent.

How do you arrange home office furniture?

Posted on September 29th, 2009 by admin

I have a square room with large windows on the south wall, a smaller window on the east wall, a closet on the north wall, and an empty east wall. I have a large bookcase, a small cabinet, and two desks I am trying to arrange to be practical but not overwhelm and crowd the room, especially since it’s all dark wood furniture. I’ve tried angling some of the pieces, separating the desks, putting the desks together to increase my workspace . . . I’m just confusing myself? Any suggestions? And please don’t suggest those furniture arranging programs, I’d really just like to hear people’s actual visions for arranging the furniture. Thank you!

How about putting one desk under the south window…then use the 2nd desk to form an L shape…(unless a 2nd person will be using this desk). If 2 people will be using the desks, put them under the south windows facing each other.

Then put the large bookcase on the east wall… under the window or beside it…with the small cabinet on the north wall (by the closet door).

With this arrangement, you can see out both windows and the door.

Have you thought about painting the desks a lighter color so the room won’t be full of dark wood?

Living room furniture that match muted gold walls, with brown sugar trim

Posted on September 29th, 2009 by admin

I’m trying to decide what colors that will match my walls, i want to buy some furniture for my living room, but can’t decide what color to go with or combinations please help me someone.

Try black. Black is a classic colour and timeless. From a more practical standpoint, black hides marks and scuffs that will undoubtably happen. If black is a little too harsh for you, maybe try a chocolate brown.

western style oak furniture with leather cushions and knotted rope trim on lamps, collectable. Designer?

Posted on September 29th, 2009 by admin

A suite of furniture consisting of curved sofa frame of oak and loose leather cushions, arm chairs, and tables of oak, matching lamps with rope trim, long coffee table with leather inlay top. Made by an American designer. Who?

Try www.thecaballero.com, or do a search for things like "ranch furniture, western furniture, Texas furniture, rope trim"

Most of what they call rope trim is really carved in wood, not actual rope.

good luck to ya!

Which report should i do and what should i change about it?

Report 1:
We all use furniture every day and are very important. Furniture was just as important in the 1800’s as it is today. Even though the U.S. was separate from England they still kept some European traditions, one of the traditions was furniture. Most furniture was based on European neo-classical furniture, but was made an American variation. This type used straight lines, thin wood, and geometric shapes. Neo-classical furniture renewed interest in classics from Grease and Rome and was for rich and high-class citizens. Most people made there own furniture because they could get a more affordable version of expensive furniture.
In history people gave names to certain types of different styles. Some were named after people and others where named after time periods. In the 1800’s furniture began to change along with the developing country. In the 1700’s furniture reflected what rich people had in their homes, but in the early 1800’s furniture began to reflect what ordinary people had in there homes. Furniture expo’s were beginning to be held so people could get new ideas and new designs and styles were created. Furniture began to fall into 2 different categories: historical styles and original. In B.A.M.F. our furniture store will be located in Scottsylvania.

Both of these reports are god to use, but first of all, your first sentence needs work. Perhaps instead of "We all use furniture every day and are very important," you should say "We all use furniture everyday, and it is very important." It makes more sense that way. Also, Grease should be Greece.
I rather like report 1. :)

Why do americans not like stylish contemporary furniture?

Posted on September 29th, 2009 by admin

I guess I almost feel like a minority in my own country with lack of home decor products which are comtemporary in looks. Everywhere you go, its the same heavy traditional crap. The only place you can find most modern stuff is online. It’s sad that while in Europe designers are as big as film stars but here people don’t give a damn about any designer products. What’s wrong with our country?

Mainly its a durability and affordability problem. To get the contemporary look that lasts with kids and everything it costs a pretty penny. Plus many americans are collectors of trinkets and things. this lends their nature to be more eclectic in how they decorate not uniform.
So modern is out and traditional, expansive is in. its slowly changing with what is being sold to kids, and what is in a lot of condos is being transferred.

Where can I buy modern cat furniture in the UK?

Posted on September 27th, 2009 by admin

Hi there
When it comes to cat furniture – scratching-posts and beds – there are loads of sites in the US where you can buy beautiful modern-looking designs to fit a more contemporary-looking house, but I can’t find anything similar in the UK. Has anyone come across any retailers or designers who produce such things?
Many thanks.
This is an example of what I mean: http://www.moderncatdesigns.com/tall-modern-condo.html
